Seahawk defensive lineman Michael Bennett is reported to be in town as camp begins Saturday morning for the Seahawks.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Thursday he anticipated defensive lineman Michael Bennett to show up for training camp on time despite his stated desire for a new contract.

And as the Seahawks hit the practice field Saturday that was indeed the case.

Bennett was the last player to take the field, doing so just as the 10:15 a.m. official start time hit.

Bennett has not had a practice with the Seahawks since the end of last season. He did not attend any of the team’s voluntary off-season program and then attended a mandatory mini-camp in June but did not take part in practices due to an ankle injury.

Bennett has stated on many occasions he would like the team to redo his four-year, $28.5 million deal signed in March, 2014 that now ranks him 26th in salary among defensive linemen.

His agent, Doug Hendrickson, has talked to the Seahawks this week.

So far, no word on a new deal with the Seahawks hoping to hold firm to their stated philosophy of not redoing contracts that have more than a year remaining.

But despite still being unhappy with his contract and trying, apparently unsuccessfully, to work out a new deal with the team, Bennett is taking part in practice.

Every other Seahawk also appeared accounted for, though as had been expected, running back Thomas Rawls and tight end Jimmy Graham were not present but watching from the sidelines. Each is expected to need more time to get back on the field while recovering from serious injuries suffered last season.

Also among those sitting out but present was DT Sealver Siliga.

And also, the Seahawks have yet to make Chris Clemons’ retirement official. That is expected to happen in the next day or so. But for now, he remains on the 90-man roster, which has Seattle’s roster at a full 90 as camp begins.

And in two apparent position changes among undrafted free agents, Tani Tupou — listed as a fullback — is wearing a white defensive jersey working with the linemen while Tanner McEvoy — listed as a safety — is wearing a blue offensive jersey, apparently now a receiver.
